- What would NARFE do for me?
NARFE represents you. NARFE is the only national association dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing the benefits of America's active and retired federal employees, and their survivors.
NARFE keeps you current. As a member, you receive the "NARFE Magazine," the only national magazine focused on the retirement issues for active employees and federal retirees.
Membership is a bargain. You can become a member of NARFE for less than the cost of a morning cup of coffee. You can buy insurance to protect you health, home, and car. Why not make a small investment to protect your retirement future?
- What has NARFE done for North Dakota?
NARFE represents your interests. In North Dakota NARFE worked for a law that would reduce state income tax on your federal annuities. The power of NARFE before the legislative bodies is in our collective strength as an organization. Numbers speak! As a member, you will become one of nearly 1,500 members in North Dakota, who stand for the future well-being of all federal retirees. NARFE keeps you informed. As a member you receive the Bismarck-Mandan NARFE Chapter newsletter and the North Dakota Federation newsletter. Both newsletters are published biannually. If you rely only on the daily newspaper or Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to keep you informed about your annuity, health benefits, taxes and personnel matters, you could miss many current and important events and issues.
- Why should I join the Bismarck-Mandan Chapter?
NARFE is active in the community. NARFE has eight chapters in North Dakota. The Bismarck-Mandan NARFE Chapter has nearly 300 members, who take pride in supporting the community activities, providing scholarship opportunities for high school seniors, and staying current about community affairs and activities. We invite you to attend a monthly meeting to get to know us. Come and enjoy a buffet lunch, followed by a short business meeting and program speaker. NARFE helps with your problems. Our chapter's SERVICE OFFICER assists members with questions and problems on annuities, death benefits, survivor annuities, life insurance, and health benefits, including contacting OPM, when needed.
Contact the chapter's membership chair, Ron Shupe (701.223.1132). He will send you more information and applications forms or answer any questions you might have. You can also contact the chapter's president, Richard Hansen (701.663.8850) or any officer or committee chair listed on this Web site.
